How We Work

We’re an independent site. We’re not a government agency or a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice.

Each checklist starts with what the issuing office publishes: USCIS for immigration forms, the State Department for passports, the Social Security Administration for cards, state motor vehicle agencies for licenses, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s consumer guides for mortgages. Where the rules shift by state or county, we say so instead of pretending there’s one answer. Where we’re unsure, we point you to whoever can say for sure.

Official sources worth bookmarking:

Official government forms are free to download from the agency itself. If a website wants money just to hand you a form, close the tab.
