For more than 11 years, our team has worked with the paperwork Americans have to get right: IDs and records, immigration forms, rental and loan applications, and business filings. For most of that time, the work happened in person. Someone would show up with a folder, and we’d go through it together.
After a while, you see the same things over and over. A name that doesn’t match. An expired ID. A “certified” copy that was never certified. A person who drove an hour and was missing one page.
The questions barely changed, but not everyone could come see us. So we moved online. Documents Required is where we write down what we’d tell you across the desk.
We’ve Spent 11+ Years Helping People Get Their Paperwork Right
We explain what agencies ask for. We read the instructions from the offices that issue the paperwork, then rewrite them in plain English, with the common mistakes called out.
We tell you when it depends. Passport rules are federal. Marriage licenses and driver’s licenses change by state, and sometimes by county. When the answer varies, we say so.
We don’t promise approvals. No honest guide can. Agencies make the decisions, and we’re not one.
We don’t sell government forms. Official forms are free from the agency. We’ll point you to the real source every time.
Documents Required is an independent information site. We’re not a government agency, and nothing here is legal advice.
How we keep guides accurate
Every guide starts with what the issuing agency publishes: USCIS, the State Department, the Social Security Administration, state motor vehicle offices, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. We check the details before publishing, and we date each guide so you can see how fresh it is.
Agencies change forms and fees without much warning. Use our checklist to get organized, then confirm the details on the agency’s own page before you go.
Spot something out of date? Tell us at [admin@kairamartintechy.com]. We’d rather hear it from you than have the next reader find out at the counter. When we fix a mistake, we update the guide and note the change.
Why we do this
Paperwork problems tend to show up at the worst moment: a closing date, a job start, a trip, a deadline. Most of them can be avoided with a short list and ten minutes at the kitchen table. That’s the whole idea.
